What is the Tavus Developer API, and how is it different from PALs?

The Tavus Developer API is the toolkit that lets you build your own emotionally intelligent, human-like AI using Tavus’s core technology. It gives developers control over how their AI looks, sounds, and behaves—offering customization of replicas, personas, LLMs, TTS engines, perception layers, and even UI or brand design. You can also define knowledge sources, guardrails, and custom function or tool calls. PALs, on the other hand, are Tavus’s fully built AI humans that come ready to use out of the box, with built-in features like scheduling, memory, and multimodal communication.
